Title: Hydrogen peroxide inhibits mTOR signaling by activation of AMPKalpha leading to apoptosis of neuronal cells

Year Published: 2010

Observation: H2O2 induces ROS contributing to suppression of mTOR mediated S6K1 and 4EBP1 pathways, leading to neuronal cell death. Downregulation of AMPKalpha1 conferred partial resistance to H2O2 inhibition of mTOR signaling pathways as well as H2O2 induced cell death

Comment: AMPK inhibitors may be exploited for prevention of H2O2-induced neurodegenerative diseases
