Observation: NG2+ cells that reside in adult brain and spinal cord continue to differentiate into OLs, which form myelin. NG2+ cells in ALS differentiate into OLs but not to astrocytes or neurons

Comment: In regions of neurodegeneration in the spinal cord of ALS mice, NG2+ cells exhibited enhanced proliferation and accelerated differentiation into oligodendrocytes but remained committed to the oligodendrocyte lineage
