Title: Microglia Induce Motor Neuron Death via the Classical NF-κB Pathway in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Year Published: 2014

Observation: NF-kB inhibition in astrocytes doesn't contribute to neuroprotection in vivo or in vitro. Microglia contribute to NF-kB activation during ALS progresion. SOD1-G93A microglia induce MN death in an NF-kB dependent manner. NF-kB activation in enough to induce MN death in vitro

Comment: Localization of NF-kB activity and deletion of NF-kB signaling in microglia rescued MNs from microglial mediated death in vitro and extended survival of SOD1 mice
